Alex Lowes continues to compete with the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team for 2018, as he makes further steps with the YZF-R1 machine. Yet to take his debut WorldSBK victory, his podium tally is now up to seven following a strong end to the season in 2017.
Beginning his career in the 125cc World Championship, Lowes - twin brother to Moto2 rider Sam Lowes - then went on to compete in British Superbikes for four seasons, and he obtained the title in 2013 with Honda.
Making the jump up to a full time MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship rider in 2014 following some replacement rides, the British rider took two podiums and two fastest laps in his debut year. Coming off the back of two tough seasons for the 27 year old, as he struggled in 2015 with Suzuki, and 2016 was a difficult return to the championship for Yamaha. However with improvements made in 2017, including taking the Suzuka 8 Hour win for the Japanese Factory, the future looks bright as he hunts down his first victory. Adding four trophies to his cabinet in 2017, he hopes to improve with his R1.
